Cryosurgery
Cryosurgery is a treatment that is used to treat Verrucae/Warts by freezing and drying up the blood supply that make the lesions worse. Verrucae appear on the sole of the foot and are generally flat in appearance because it is areas you are walking on and Warts appear raised as they are on areas that don’t get any pressure. Cryosurgery is generally used alongside certain ointments called caustics to treat these viral lesions. The caustics include silver nitrate and salicylic acid which help kill the virus and stop it from spreading and becoming larger in appearance. This procedure is quick and easy and is carried out during a regular consultation.
Verrucae Needling
Verrucae needling is a more extensive and invasive treatment for long-standing, stubborn Verrucae/Warts that do not respond successfully to the previous treatments. This procedure involves a local anaesthetic to numb the affected area before gentle needling is carried out to the viral tissue present. The purpose for this treatment is to create an inflammatory reaction to the affected skin to alert your immune system that it needs to eradicate the virus that is causing the condition. Follow up appointments are required to review the progress of the treatment carried out.
