About Orthotics
Orthotics are specialised insoles that are available in many different forms as they can be temporary devices used to correct a short term condition or a customised orthopaedic device prescribed to treat a complex biomechanical issue.
Orthotics are used to treat and correct a multitude of conditions and abnormalities such as heel pain, back/knee pain, plantar fasciitis/heel spur, leg length differences, spinal abnormalities, arthritis related issues, flat feet or severely high arched feet (Pes Cavus) or aiding in pre or post operative treatments.
In order for any specialised orthotic device to be issued Ashleigh has to fully assess all muscle groups, joint mobility, a patients’ weight-bearing as well as non-weight- bearing posture, their gait (walking cycle) and potential leg length discrepancy.
Every patient and condition is unique therefore it is only once a full assessment and examination has been carried out that an appropriate treatment plan can be introduced. Ashleigh will ensure to explain all the relative information to the patient and a concise decision can then be made. Orthotics are not always a quick fix solution to certain problems, therefore, it is essential that patients have a realistic expectation to their treatment plan.
